A spacious detached stone barn recently rebuilt and refurbished providing full size snooker table with gallery over and 2 double bedrooms set in a beautifully tranquil and picturesque rural  landscape.

This beautiful two bedroom cottage was converted for the owners to live in whilst the main house at Clyeen was rebuilt.  The Barn is separated from the main house by a large patio area.  The Barn has its own private garden of approximately 1/2 acre mainly laid to grass but with part planted with a large selection of trees.  The property is surrounded by farmland.  Situated less than a mile from the village of Kirk Michael and the beach, the Barn forms an ideal base for any stay on the Island.

Kirk Michael

The village of Kirk Michael is located on the North West coast of the island.  Kirk Michael is 25 minutes' drive from Douglas and the Sea Terminal and 25 minutes' drive from the Airport. Local amenities include a village pub, which serves food, a local shop, post office, chemist, butchers, church, bank and garage.  Kirk Michael is an ideal base for walking and hiking.

The Beach

Kirk Michael beach is wonderfully long and sandy.  You may see people riding horses along the shore at low tide.  We provide a tide clock in the Barn as the beach disappears at high tide!  The nearest access to the beach is from Glen Wyllin but you can also reach it from the centre of the village.  Glen Wyllin is less than a mile from the Barn (accessible directly by a short walk through a nature reserve called Cooildarry which leads to the beach).  Down by the river in the glen there is also a campsite with shop (holiday season only), waterfall, grassy picnic area and secure children's playground.

Peel

About six miles from Kirk Michael is the pretty harbour town of Peel, one of the previous capitals of the island. Here you will find a supermarket, restaurants, take-aways and numerous pubs serving food, as well as a variety of shops. There is also a lovely sheltered sandy beach and promenade with excellent ice-cream shop facing the ancient castle.  Another more secluded beach lies around the other side of the harbour towards the castle.

Location

Travelling north from St Johns on the TT course (A3) the driveway leading up to the Barn and Clyeen is located on the right approximately ¾ mile south of Kirk Michael and 6 miles north from St Johns.  The end of the driveway is marked by an orange TT mountain course sign indicating the 13th milestone bend.  The driveway heads up towards the hills and after approximately 100 metres veers round to the left.  The entrance to the Barn is the first gate on the right hand side after the end of the tarmac surface.

Welcome pack

Upon arrival you will receive a welcome pack comprising basic necessities to keep you going until you can get to the supermarket.  The local shop is well-stocked for basic items, but a large supermarket shop can be done at supermarkets in Peel, Ramsey or Douglas.

Central heating, electicity and gas are provided as is the use of all bed linen and towels (including beach towels). We also provide a picnic hamper (including plates/mugs and cutlery).
